Round One: Best of Seven

I love this time of year......the grass is starting to get green, the flowers are starting to sprout, the trees are starting to bud, and the Flames are getting ready to kick some Mighty Ducks tail!

VS.

Yup it is the start of the hockey playoffs. The Flames who have finished 1st in their division, 3rd in their conference have been paired up against the Anaheim Might Ducks for the first round of the best of seven playoffs. Last night we had a preview of what the games are likely going to be like during this series. The game ended up resulting in a loss for the Flames 3-4 in favor of the Ducks. However we had our new backup goaltender in net who hasn't played since he let in 9 goals earlier in the season. The Ducks played all their best players including their starting goalie and they still barely beat us. I am a strong believer that the game would have gone a different direction if the best goalie in the league was in net.....that being our very own Miikka Kiprusoff, aka "The Kipper". Last nights game was a good one despite the score. Their were 40 seperate penalties assessed during the evening, 19 of which consisted of fighting, roughing, charging and boarding. Again, a little preview of what is going to be a slug fest starting this Friday.

I am looking forward to getting together with family and friends for each game out at mom & dad's house. It will be fun to have the "Little Flickers" strut their stuff in front of the t.v. during post scoring celebrations again. We will need to work on a better Stanley Cup this year, and definatley make sure everyone is in red for the event. Lisa is excited because there is a California team in the playoffs. She tried to strike a deal with me last night that we live in the city or county of the winning team from this series. Nice try.

Get your game faces on cause it is playoff time.......lets cheer them on and hope that they give us another good run for Lord Stanley's Cup!

It sucks that we aren't there to celebrate with you guys. It was really fun 2 years ago. They never play any of the games here. So you will have to keep us posted on what happens.
