Last Monday the temperature at our house was 111 degrees. I heard on the news it was the hottest day ever recorded in LA. And it felt like it! The kids played in soccer games over the weekend and had red little faces. With our heat wave we had hotter temperatures then Dave did while he was away in Las Vegas. It felt like we were the ones transported to the desert.
This past Monday it was cold and raining. It's been raining for the past 3 days and it feels like Fall has arrived. We got our Halloween decorations out and did some baking and enjoyed Conference. It's forecasted that we will be back to 90 degrees by Sunday. I guess we will have to get our swim suits back out. It's been strange to have such extremes.
Anyway, here's a little of what we have been up to:
Cj was in town for a few days so we decided to meet up at Tokyo Wacko. We thought the kids would love watching the chef cook the meal right in front of them. Before we went into the restaurant we told them all about the tricks they would see. Well we should have warned them there would be fire involved. It's well known that Audrey is not a fan of fire, so when I saw the chef spray the oil on the grill and drop the match I went to put my arm around her. I was confused when I reached around and she wasn't there. I turned and looked down and there was Audrey and her chair flat on the floor. She had seen the fire coming toward her and pushed her chair back but the chair didn't slide and she pushed herself to the ground. Meanwhile, Brady was just as scared and started crying and grabbing at Dave. Carter told us later that he saw the fire and decided to close his eyes so he wouldn't have to see it. There they all were scared and worried. The poor chef didn't know what was going on. Needless to say the experience wasn't quite what we thought but we all had a good laugh. We also decided to teach Carter that fire doesn't go away if you close your eyes - little fire safety lesson. Oh, what a night!
Carter loves to grab my phone and take random pictures. He also takes some pretty funny narrated videos. I thought these two self portraits were funny!
Disneyland is all decorated for Halloween and it's one of my favorite things to see this time of year. While Dave was in Las Vegas watching CJ's band perform, Cara and I decided to take the kids to see the decorations. Brady hasn't been to Disneyland in a very long time so this was the first time he really interacted with everything happening around him. He was so cute! He didn't want to get too close to the characters but liked watching them from a distance. He also loved dancing to music. Aunt Shauna met up with us and we enjoyed Small World and being driven by the kids on Autotopia. We have some crazy drivers in the making. Especially Brady who liked to turn around and wave to everyone while we were in "traffic". It was a really fun evening!

Brady thought this was a little too close. If I would have taken this picture a second or two later you would see his big tears. Maybe next time Pluto.
Carter was very excited to start his autograph collection in his book. What a smile!
Brady at the wheel
Does Brady look a bit nervous?!?

Carter when we arrived home - sign of a good time
Audrey is happy that Mini Pearls has started again this year. The girls are working on collecting food items to put in a Thanksgiving basket they will create to give to families with children in the hospital over the holidays. It's great to see the girls having fun while doing something so worth while!

Brady gets a little lonely when he has to run errands with me while Audrey and Carter are in school. The other day at Target he asked me to put these guys in his seat with him while we shopped around the store. I guess he felt like they would keep him company. It was just too cute not to take a picture.
This past week Brady hit milestone. He has been attending speech therapy since January which has been such a blessing. He was recently evaluated and it was determined that he is speaking at his age level and no longer needs to attend therapy. We are so happy with the progress he has made!! At the same time we are going to miss his teacher Ms. Heather. She is a wonderful lady. She is so patient and loving and Brady enjoyed his time with her. I am so grateful for her! It's been amazing to see Brady's progress these past few months. This has been the first week we have not gone to see Ms. Heather and Brady asks every day when we are going. I've explained that we aren't going any more but he just gives me a sad frown and says "Yes". I'm going to have to get him into another activity so he isn't so sad.
