We finished out March strong. Here is what we were up to last month.

It sure is fun to have a brother around. I remember I use to adorn my turtle mask so Carter would have another "turtle" to hang with. Now these two have each other to try out their moves. Typical afternoon of dress up.
We had a few visitors in March. First was Flat Peter. Have you read the Flat Stanley book? If not you can go here to learn all about it. Our friend Peter from Calgary sent us his Flat Peter so we could show him the sites around town. These are just a few places we went:
Flat Peter with his sand castle in Laguna Beach
Of course we had to treat him to a favorite In-N-Out
Cara was kind enough to take him to Disneyland. Can you spot him on the Tower of Terror ride?

Here is Flat Peter resting on a soldier's bed at the San Juan Capistrano Mission
As you can tell we had a great time. We were able to send some pictures, maps, and souvenirs back to Peter's class at the school Audrey attended in Calgary. It will be fun to hear what the kids thought of Flat Peter's adventures.
Our next visitors were unexpected but it was sure a treat to have them for a while ..... baby hummingbirds! Their nest was on a lower branch in our avocado tree in the back yard. I love hummingbirds. Typically they are so fast that it's hard to see all the details in their feathers. These 2 little birds weren't flying yet so we could watch them for as long as we wished - that was until the mother would do a fly by right at our heads. She wasn't too happy we were getting close to her babies. They flew away about a week ago which was sad, but it was sure amazing to watch them while we had the chance.
Our final visit came from the Heninger Family. We all have so much fun when they come to town. The kids play and we visit - fun times!!

Enjoying Balboa bars
(don't know why DeAnne and I didn't take a picture - we were there I promise)

Perfect spot to enjoy lunch

Look at these boys - sure sign of a good time!
A few weeks ago we went to Balboa and got to go sailing with the Millers. It was a beautiful afternoon and the wind was perfect for sailing. Captain Mike let each of us take a turn steering the boat. It was beautiful and peaceful and all together wonderful! Hillary took some amazing pictures and even cute video of the boys. Check them out here and here and here!

Last but not least Audrey received some exciting news. The 4th graders were able to try out to be a part of the school street hockey team which will play other schools at the Honda Center in May. She was so happy when I picked her up from school and she shared the news that she made the team as an alternate. Only a few kids make the team so it was a pretty big deal. The alternate will fill in for anyone, so she has to try out all the positions. She will practice all month for the big tournament in May. Can you tell by the smile on her face how excited she is?
It's been Spring Break this past week so I will post how we have been spending our days next time. Stay tuned.
