What the heck is wrong with me?

Not that anyone who reads this blog cares, but the gold medal for the 2006 IIHF would Juniors hockey tournament goes to Team Canada......again. Sorry Russia.....again. There are several reasons to be proud as a Canadian, but this is the biggest....we rule at hockey!

I don't know what has been going on with my dedication to sporting events lately. I have been going through a phase of my life where I have been faced with the challenge of watching a sporting event from start to finish or choosing to do something else in the middle or near the end of the sporting event. Just a few years ago you couldn't have pried me away from the t.v. during any kind of a game or got me to leave a live game early if you tried, but lately I have chosen to do other things instead of finish the game all the way through. The most recent examples of this was choosing to leave the Los Angeles Lakers game early so that I wasn't stuck in traffic going home. The game went to overtime and the Lakers lost by 1 point. Three days ago I chose to go play hockey with 4 minutes left in the USC vs. Texas Rose Bowl game. One of the most amazing games I have ever watched (3/4 way through). Apparently I missed one of the most amazing finishes to a game ever! Last night I decided to go and watch The Chronicles of Narnia at the movie theater instead of finishing the World Jr. Hockey Championship.......what the heck is wrong with me?! My brother in law called me "Sell Out Saunders" when he found out I missed the Rose Bowl finish. I partially blame this new trend on having kids. I think I have conditioned myself to not care when I have to walk away from a game to take care of a crying baby, or turn the channel when my little 4 year old wants to watch a cartoon instead. I have conditioned myself to "walk away" and not get all bent out of shape. I am not saying I like it......in fact I hope this trend doesn't get any worse and I stop watching all together. I have seen it happen to guys older than me and it freaks me out.

What is up with parents who bring their little kids to movies that scare the crap out of you! Not that the new King Kong is a horror show, but for a little 3-5 year old it would give nightmares for months on end. I was at King Kong (7 out of 10 if you ask me) the other day and this lady brought 2 little kids with her. There are moments in the movie that are freaky......human sacrifices, voodoo crap, and not to mention Kong beating the crap out of 3 T-Rex dinosaurs at the same time. It ticked me off to look over and see 2 little kids staring at a massive screen wondering why there are dead people stuck on big long sticks 10 feet above the ground. It makes you wonder what they watch at home.

Dave. Nice job on the blog. You'll have to get into a decent "feed" reader now that you've go so many blogs to read.
